When I first started playing Starcraft 2, I thought I would be able to jump in and be ok at it, but after a couple of games I realized that this is not a game you win easily by simply playing over and over to figure out one “perfect” strategy. 4 times out of 5 I was easily dominated by my opponent. I came to realize that every single phase of this game needs to be understood perfectly. I needed a plan, some sort of solution to overcome an attack during any of these “phases”. So… since I’m like everyone and I hate losing in games (and aren’t we all playing games with the intention of enjoying them?), I decided to find a strategy guide that would work. A simple starcraft 2 strategy guide that would allow me to actually win games! Which is why after having read and applied the concepts acquired in the top strategy guides I decided to review all of them and rate them to help other newbies who find themselves in the situation I was in. All you need is the right strategy guide for you. Read on to see if Gavin Garrett’s “Ultimate Starcraft 2 Guide” is the one for you!
Like all other guides Gavin Garret’s guide has the basic guidelines for new players. But, because none of us will remain an amateur, the guide also contains a lot of information that will allow any serious reader to play like a pro in a matter of days (if you play like crazy in the said days obviously) and in a matter of weeks for those who don’t play that many hours every day. I’m telling you, the Ultimate Starcraft 2 Guide gave me the guts to compete with the pros.
In the book, you will find great strategies and advice for all three races – Terran, Zerg and Protoss. An other great thing about it is that is not only shows you how to start up your games, it also shows you how to finish up your enemy(ies). By reading it, you will learn how to deal with many of the odd situations that can make find their way into Starcraft 2 matches (and believe me they occur more often than I expected). Thanks to the Ultimate Guide, I familiarized myself with the strengths and weaknesses of each race along with their advantages against specific races.
For example, Gavin shares with his readers lots of great ideas and techniques that we can incorporate when commanding the powerful Terrans. He shares the differences between the old Terrans(in the original Starcraft) and the new Terrans (the updated ones in SC 2), he gives us crucial guidelines relating to the micro management of the race. He also fully describes the most effective methods (and shows us new ways of dominating with them) such as the Reaper Rush, the Hellion Rush, and the Marine Rush.
In case you’ve forgotten already, he gives in depth details for every race! And before I forget I must mention another surprisingly effective part of his strategy guide is the “defense tips”. With his remarks relating to the defensive side of our game, he allows us to build a base, which not only optimizes offense but also gives the extra confidence of knowing that the opponent can’t decimate our so precious army in the safety of our home base.
With the help of these tips and tricks you will surely get into diamond league. In this guide, secrets are revealed that have the potential to make you a pro. Now, even though I didn’t find the overall manual as aesthetically pleasing as other guides out there, I have to admit it is a professionally written and very welcome addition to my strategy guide armory! For this reason it deserves a very nice 3.5 ou of 5 stars rating! (I would give it a 4 or 4.5 but I find some others gides look better, if you don’t care about the looks too much and appreciate pure knowledge and content than you will love this baby!)
